With the Miele Scout app^*, the Scout RX2 or Scout RX3 robot vacuum cleaner can be controlled conveniently using a smartphone or tablet while you’re at home or on the go. The robot vacuum cleaner’s innovative controls open up several new functions.

During cleaning, the Scout RX2 or RX3 creates a map of the area cleaned. You can follow this process live in the Miele Scout app^*. This allows you to be aware of where the Scout RX2 or RX3 is at any given time and which areas have already been cleaned. Up to two different maps can be saved.

Home Vision^* is the encrypted transmission of live images so you can make sure everything is OK at home while you’re on the move.Which camera is used for the transmission of live images?The Scout’s right-hand camera.How high is the resolution?The resolution of the Scout RX3 is 720 x 1280 pixels (RX2: 480 x 320 pixels). It is optimised for display on a smartphone. The quality of images may vary, depending on lighting conditions, home WiFi coverage and the Internet connection.What data transfer rate is required?A stable upload speed is required for your home WiFi network and a stable download speed of at least 4 Mbit/s for your mobile Internet for the Scout RX3 (RX2: at least 2 Mbits/s). If the connection is poor, the delay time may increase and the image may be interrupted or not appear at all.Why is the picture distorted?The built-in cameras are wide-angle cameras. This increases the angle of view, which is particularly helpful for the navigation of the appliance.Are video transmissions saved?No, the live image is only transmitted once. It is not recorded on the mobile device, the robot vacuum cleaner or the Miele Cloud server.

Start times can be easily planned with the aid of the timer function.How do I set a start time?You can easily set a timer in the Miele Scout app^*. You can select the required start time, the days of the week and the cleaning mode.How many different start times can I set?You can programme up to a total of 7 individual timers, so that you can set a different start time on weekends than on weekdays, for example.

What do I need to use the Miele Scout app^*?You can connect directly to the robot vacuum cleaner with your smartphone. To use the app on the go, you also need a WiFi network with Internet access as well as mobile Internet access for your mobile device.What are the requirements for my mobile device?The app runs on mobile devices under the iOS 11.0 and Android 6.0 operating systems and is optimised for a display size of at least 4.7” and a resolution of at least 1136 x 640 pixels.What are the requirements for my WiFi router?Miele uses the IEEE 802.11n WiFi standards, which means that you can connect the Scout to all regular WiFi routers. Please ensure that you use a secure encryption method for your WiFi connection. We recommend using secure WPA2 encryption with a secure password.Can I operate multiple robot vacuum cleaners with the app?Yes, multiple robot vacuum cleaners can be added.Can I connect the robot vacuum cleaner to multiple mobile devices?Yes, a robot vacuum cleaner can also be operated by multiple devices. However, if two devices attempt to access the robot vacuum cleaner at the same time, only one of these devices may control the robot vacuum cleaner.

How do I establish a connection with my Scout?Download the Miele Scout app^* from the App Store or the Google Play Store. Following installation, open the app and follow the instructions.What types of connection are there?There are several ways of connecting to a robot vacuum cleaner.1. With a Miele user account:A Miele user account is required in order to be able to access a robot vacuum cleaner when you’re away from home. Using a mobile device, an Internet connection can then be established with your WiFi router. The robot vacuum cleaner must also be registered with a local home network.2. Without a Miele user account:A mobile device can also be connected directly via the Scout’s WiFi. The mobile device must be near the robot vacuum cleaner. The robot vacuum cleaner can also be logged into a local home network. In this case, the robot vacuum cleaner can be accessed with a mobile device via the WiFi router as long as the mobile device and the robot vacuum cleaner are within range of the WiFi router.

Can the robot vacuum cleaner be controlled by third parties?No – to prevent external access, you are taken through a pairing process the first time you use the robot vacuum cleaner before you can control it with your mobile device.How is the security of my data on the Internet guaranteed?Data security is our highest priority. That is why we use transport layer security (TLS), an encryption method used in online banking, in conjunction with security certificates to transmit your data over the Internet. A secure TURN server is used for the Home Vision function.Remote access to your robot vacuum cleaner is only available via your Miele user account, which is protected by a personal password.Miele standards are verified by external security specialists.What sort of data is stored?Only data required for the use of the app is stored on the Miele Cloud server. This is your user account data, plus information on your robot vacuum cleaner and the Miele Scout app^*. Further information is provided in the app’s data protection declaration.

How do I create a user account?You can create a user account via the Miele Scout app^*.I already have a Miele user account. Can I use the same account for the Scout?Yes, the Miele Scout app^* accesses the same Miele Cloud server as the Miele app. Only the one Miele user account needs to be set up. What do I need to do if I sell or give away my appliance?Please delete the appliance from your Miele user account and the Miele Scout app^* and reset your appliance settings to the factory defaults. To do this, press and hold the “Spot” and “Turbo” buttons on the appliance simultaneously for more than 5 seconds. Press “OK” on the remote control for 2 seconds when “rSt” appears on the display.

Will app updates be available?Yes, over time, new versions of the Miele Scout app^* may be available for download and installation. An associated update to the appliance software may also be required. The new software for the robot vacuum cleaner would in any case be downloaded by the mobile device following confirmation by the user and transmitted to the robot vacuum cleaner via a WiFi connection.
